er and owner of MMI – Martin Mayer International Engineering is Mr. Martin Mayer. After completing his education as a plastics engineer and a graduate industrial engineer at the Rosenheim and Pforzheim universities, he gained 16 years experience in various areas of the pharmaceutical industry, as Production Planning Manager and Packing Manager at Klinge in Munich and as Associate Technology Manager, Industrial Safety Engineer and Production Manager at the company MSD Sharp&Dohme in Bad Aibling. Mr. Mayer was involved internationally on all continents on MSD’s corporate projects.
Mr. Mayer founded his Engineering firm MMI in 1993 and started designing plants for leading Argentinean and Brazilian pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies in conjunction with other German designers and architects. Within a few years, MMI has grown to nearly 20 employees and has 500 m² of office space.
However, the focus on South America also had its drawbacks; the economy in Brazil and above all in Argentina collapsed dramatically at the end of the 90s; design projects were no longer implemented and design follow-up projects were put on hold. This also necessitated fundamental changes in the orientation and structure of MMI. The regional focus now turned to pharmaceutical and cleanroom projects in Germany; the workforce was completely reorganised into freelance employees in order to adjust the cost structure to the fluctuating capacity requirements in the project business. MMI worked for more than 10 years with a network of freelance experts under the leadership of Mr. Martin Mayer on projects of different magnitudes and objectives. Most of MMI's projects were managed and executed personally by Mr. Mayer, the cultivation and expansion of this network is also one of the reasons for MMI’s continued success.
This new structure enables MMI to put together a team of the most qualified experts based on the project and task that responds extremely flexibly and cost-effectively to all requests and challenges.
